Brigid’s Path Treats 18% More Babies in 2020

“Bold” Report Highlights Outcomes, Success in Year of Pandemic.

KETTERING, OH (May 24, 2021) – Brigid’s Path, the first newborn recovery center in Ohio, today released its 2020 Annual Report.

“For all of us, 2020 was a year that stretched us in ways we never would have imagined,” said Jill Kingston, executive director, Brigid’s Path. “But, we adjusted. We were bold. We kept loving and helping families in the midst of a lot of change and uncertainty.

“Drug use and overdoses have been incredibly high in the last year,” said Kingston. “According to Harm Reduction Ohio, our state surpassed 5,000 deaths from overdose for the first time in 2020. Our families facing challenges of safe housing, substance use disorders, and so many other traumas needed more help than ever. And with the community’s support, we were able to keep accompanying and loving these families.”
The report includes statements from mothers helped, quantifiable outcomes, and more successes from.

January to December 2020. Highlights include:

  • Brigid’s Path cared for 47 babies in 2020 – an 18% increase from 2019
  • 83% of babies would have been placed directly into foster case without Brigid’s Path
  • 96% of moms were very satisfied with their experience at Brigid’s Path
  • 68% of babies went home with a parent, family members or Safe Family
  • 152 lives of babies and kin impacted in 2020 – an 18% increase from 2019

Since opening its doors in December 2017, Brigid’s Path has cared for more than 100 babies. Nearly half of those families remain engaged with the organization for support.

The community can join in supporting local families impacted by substance use by participating in A Powerful Pair, now through Father’s Day.
