Brigid’s Path featured in The Guardian
“She was pregnant and addicted to fentanyl. Getting to keep her baby saved them both” – The Guardian, November 2025
We were honored to be included in this in-depth report on the intersection of substance abuse and motherhood. The Guardian visited Brigid’s Path recently, along with several other similar centers across the US, and shared the stories of some of the women and babies impacted by this complex issue. The stories are hard – just like the lives many of the women have led. But they also are hopeful.
“We’re a downstream intervention for the baby, but our goal is to be an upstream intervention for the mom for the next pregnancy,” Lisa Jasin, Brigid’s Path’s clinical director told the publication. The system of trauma, substance use, legal intervention, recovery, and parenthood is difficult for anyone to navigate. That’s why we’re here – to be a guide and partner through this challenge.
Not least challenging is the problem of how to pay for these services. Although our program is far more cost-effective than traditional hospital care, reimbursement remains low and we rely on grants and philanthropy to continue offering steady reliable care for our babies and moms. We’re grateful for every single supporter who steps up to ensure we can continue to provide hope and healing for our families.
